George White's illustrious career began in the realm of burlesque dance, where he initially performed as part of a troupe before transitioning to a solo act. As the decade of the 1910s unfolded, he made his way to the esteemed stages of Broadway, where he would go on to make a profound impact as a producer, director, writer, and sometimes even a performer himself.
Throughout his extensive career, White's annual revue, "Scandals," would become a beloved staple, captivating audiences from the late 1910s to 1939. The esteemed revue would feature a plethora of talented performers, including Frances Williams, Alice Faye, Rudy Vallee, Eleanor Powell, and Ann Miller, who would all take to the stage under White's guidance.
In addition to his impressive stage productions, White would also venture into the world of cinema, bringing his "Scandals" to the big screen on not one, but two occasions. The first two film adaptations, "George White's Scandals" (1934) and "George White's 1935 Scandals" (1935),would star the talented Alice Faye, further cementing her status as a Hollywood icon.
Decades later, in 1945, another film would be produced, this time titled "George White's Scandals," though it would differ from its predecessors in that it would feature only White's original material, without the involvement of his original stage performers.
