Award-winning novelist and screenwriter Gabrielle was bestowed the esteemed honor of being named a Nicholl Screenwriting Fellow by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her remarkable talent was further recognized when she was selected to participate in the prestigious IFP/West screenwriting workshop and attend the renowned Equinoxe Screenwriting Conference in Bordeaux, France.
In addition to her literary accomplishments, Gabrielle is also the author of the thought-provoking non-fiction book, "I'm Running Away From Home But I'm Not Allowed To Cross The Street". Her insightful articles and reviews have been published in numerous national magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Family Circle, and The Buffalo News.
Gabrielle's academic achievements include earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from the American Film Institute, where two of her short films were produced. Her novel, Heartbreak Hotel, received the coveted Maxwell Perkins Prize and the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. Initially published by Charles Scribner & Sons, it was later published by Trevi in Sweden, as a King Penguin Original in the U.K., a Viking Penguin Contemporary Classic, and was recently republished by the esteemed Dalkey Archive Press.
Throughout her career, Gabrielle has received numerous accolades, including a Buffalo Arts Council grant, which resulted in the screenplay Manna from Heaven (2002),the Mary Pickford Prize for screenwriting from AFI, and the top prize for screenwriting at the Austin Film Festival.
