Gabriela "Gaby" Anez is a multifaceted American-Venezuelan creative professional, exceling in the realms of screenwriting, direction, production, and acting. Born and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Anez's formative years were spent at Bellas Artes, a prestigious private art-focused institution where she actively participated in various artistic endeavors and was an integral part of the school's theater group.
Anez's artistic inclinations were nurtured in Mexico City, where she resided with her mother for three years. During this period, she continued to hone her acting skills by performing in theater plays and school productions. Her early years were also marked by a passion for creative writing, as she began crafting poems and short stories at a tender age.
One of Anez's earliest notable achievements was writing her first play, "La maldición de los Jefferson" (The Jefferson's curse),at the age of twelve. This inaugural work was later produced and directed by Anez herself, premiering at Bellas Artes Theater as part of her school's annual show.
In 2006, Anez made her English-speaking debut with a role in the original play "Ashes, Ashes" at the University of Texas in Austin, which was showcased at the Cohen New Works festival that year. This experience catalyzed her decision to transition to writing screenplays in the English language, and she has since garnered recognition as a quarter-finalist and semi-finalist in various international screenwriting competitions.
Anez has authored, directed, and produced three short films, and has collaborated with fellow artists on numerous projects in Texas and California.
