Franziska Walser, a renowned German actress, embarked on her theatrical journey after graduating from the esteemed Otto Falckenberg Drama School. She initially began her career at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, where she spent one season before relocating to Hamburg to join the Deutsche Schauspielhaus.
In 1976, she became part of the star ensemble at the legendary Münchner Kammerspiele Theater, a position she held until 2001. During this time, she collaborated with acclaimed theater directors such as Dieter Dorn, Thomas Langhoff, and Hans Lietzau. Her exceptional talent earned her the Theater Förderpreis of Munich in 1980.
In the following years, Franziska Walser became increasingly involved in experimental theater productions, working with notable directors Jan Bosse and Dusan David Parizek, among others. Since 2013/2014, she has been a prominent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, where she currently stars in Samuel Beckett's Happy Days, directed by Armin Petras.
As a film actress, Franziska Walser has received numerous accolades, including the Bayerische Filmpreis in 1991 for her role in Frank Seitz's Erfolg, and the Adolf Grimme Preis in 2010 for her work in Nikolaus Leytner's Ein halbes Leben. This latter production also earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Deutsche Fernsehpreis.
In addition to her numerous roles in German TV films, Franziska has appeared in feature films such as Reine Geschmacksache, directed by Ingo Rasper, and Bach in Brazil, directed by Ansgar Ahlers. Both productions received prizes at multiple international film festivals.
Recently, Franziska has starred in the TV movie So auf Erden, directed by Till Endemann, which is set to premiere at the Filmfest München 2017.
