Frank Yablans, a renowned figure in the film industry, served as the President of Paramount Pictures during a period often referred to as "Paramount's Golden Years". During his five-year tenure, he played a pivotal role in forming a partnership with Universal CIC, now known as UPI, creating the most successful distributor of films in international distribution.
Under his leadership, Paramount experienced unprecedented success, with a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including The Godfather, Chinatown, Paper Moon, Serpico, Death Wish, Lady Sings the Blues, Murder On the Orient Express, and The Longest Yard. Additionally, the Paramount television division, which reported to him, boasted a range of hits such as Star Trek, The Odd Couple, Mission Impossible, Love American Style, and the pilot Happy Days.
After leaving Paramount, Yablans embarked on a successful career as an independent producer, working simultaneously at Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount Pictures. His credits include the hits Silver Streak, North Dallas Forty, Mommy Dearest, The Other Side of Midnight, The Fury, and Monsignor. He also co-authored the screenplays for North Dallas Forty and Mommy Dearest.
In 1980, Yablans was tasked with rebuilding MGM/UA Studio, where he served as Co-Chairman and CEO. He implemented a program aimed at attracting creative talent while controlling risks, and under his guidance, the company produced and distributed a variety of films, including War Games, Octopussy, A Christmas Story, Yentl, Hot Dog: The Movie, Breakin', Red Dawn, Teachers, and 2010.
Yablans' most recent film, Congo, produced for Paramount Pictures, has grossed over $400 million worldwide. He has since focused on the family entertainment market, producing the highly regarded A Dog of Flanders and Baby Geniuses.
Currently, Yablans serves as the CEO of Promenade Pictures, where he is producing upcoming films including The Ten Commandments, Noah's Ark: The New Beginning, and The Lamb.
