Frances de la Tour is a renowned English actress, born on July 30, 1944, in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire. She is the daughter of Moyra (née Fessas) and Charles de la Tour, and has French, Greek, and Irish ancestry. De la Tour's early life and education are marked by her attendance at London's Lycée Français and the Drama Centre London.

She is the sister of actor and screenwriter Andy de la Tour. De la Tour has a son and a daughter. Her ancestry was revealed in an episode of the BBC series "Who Do You Think You Are?" in 2015, where it was discovered that she is a descendant of the aristocratic Delaval family.

De la Tour's career spans over five decades, with notable roles in theatre, television, and film. She began her career with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in 1965, where she played various small roles before gradually building up to larger parts.
