FINA TORRES, a multifaceted director and producer, brings a wealth of expertise from across the filmmaking spectrum to her current role. Prior to embarking on her career, Torres pursued higher education in Venezuela, where she studied design, photography, and journalism. Subsequently, she relocated to Paris, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in cinematography from the prestigious Institute de Hautes Etudes Cinematographiques, IDHEC.
Upon graduating, Torres entered the industry as a film editor, camera operator, and script supervisor, while concurrently creating short films and documentaries. Her early success culminated in 1985, when she won the coveted Camera d'Or at the Cannes Festival, alongside twelve other international accolades, for her debut feature "Oriana", which she directed and produced.
Torres's subsequent feature, a comedy titled "Celestial Clockwork", was co-written, produced, and directed by her in 1993, garnering four international awards. Most recently, she directed the romantic comedy "Woman on Top" for Fox Searchlight, which earned a nomination for Best Director at the 2001 Alma Awards.
