Ethan Wiley, a multifaceted individual with a passion for storytelling, attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Theater & Film school to hone his skills in play writing and directing.
Wiley's career in the film industry began as a special effects artist, working for renowned companies such as Industrial Light & Magic and the effects guru Chris Walas, on iconic films like Return of the Jedi, Gremlins, and Romancing the Stone.
His writing credits include the hit horror-comedy House, which has become a cult classic, as well as the sequel House 2: The Second Story. Wiley's versatility as a writer-director is exemplified by his work on Children of the Corn 5: Fields of Terror, a horror film produced by Miramax.
Throughout his career, Wiley has collaborated with various production companies, including Warner Bros., Fox, Disney, HBO, New Line, Spelling, New World, and Cannon. He even contributed to a draft of the Spider-Man film.
In addition to his work in film, Wiley is an accomplished musician. He produced, co-wrote, and performed music for the horror film Jason X.
In 2006, Wiley founded his own independent film company, Wiseacre Films, which has produced a range of films and documentaries.
Some of his notable directorial credits include Blackwater Valley Exorcism, Brutal, Black Ops, and Bear. He also produced the Italian production The Butterfly Room and served as an Associate Producer for the thrillers Drifter and A Dead Calling.
Wiley co-wrote and directed the family comedy Elf-Man and produced the Chinese co-production Journey to the Forbidden Valley, which was filmed in mainland China.
In addition to his work in film and television, Wiley was a Production Consultant for Universal's The Man With the Iron Fists 2 and wrote the teleplay for Dead Again in Tombstone.
Currently, Wiley is co-directing and producing the documentary Mike Henderson: Here I Stand for the For-Site Foundation and directing Dude Ranch Dada, a feature-length documentary about his father, acclaimed modern artist William T. Wiley.
