Elsi Eng is a multifaceted actor with a wide range of talents that extend beyond the camera. Her proficiency in various dance and martial arts styles is matched only by her ability to master multiple accents in both English and Mandarin with perfect pitch and idiomatic ease.
This impressive skillset is what led Disney to choose her as the voice for the electronic storybook, Disney Mandarin: Toy Story 3, and why she was selected to voice the role of Kaori in the 2013 South Korean drama, Final Recipe, opposite Asian crossover star Michelle Yeoh.
Elsi made her U.S. television debut in 2013, appearing as a vampire on HBO's True Blood, a role that led to guest appearances on prominent Chinese television shows on Dragon TV and Jiangsu TV, introducing her to Chinese audiences.
Growing up in both Beijing and Vancouver, Canada, has given Elsi a unique cultural perspective. She was immersed in a variety of activities, including dance (classical and hip-hop),piano (Royal Conservatory),singing (pop and beat box),sports (tennis, badminton, ice-skating, and swimming),and modeling and beauty pageants.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of British Columbia, Elsi further honed her performing skills by obtaining a Master of Fine Arts in Acting for Film at the New York Film Academy. Her training also includes studies in Meisner, voice over/ADR, comedy/improv, and stage combat (hand-to-hand, wooden sword, sais, MMA, T'ai Chi).
In addition to her acting career, Elsi has also created a one-woman show, adapting a fairy character from the Classic Chinese Novel Dream of The Red Chamber, and written, produced, and directed a short film, Searching, about an artist lost in her masks, and trapped in time, searching for herself.
