Edward E. Pixley is a renowned theater director and a distinguished Professor of Speech and Theater, having spent his illustrious career teaching at SUNY-Oneonta. Prior to his tenure at SUNY-Oneonta, he attended Concordia College, where he laid the foundation for his future academic pursuits. His academic journey continued at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his Master's degree, and later at the University of Iowa, where he received his Doctorate degree with a dissertation focused on the works of the renowned Irish playwright, Sean O'Casey.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Pixley has developed a range of specializations, including play analysis, Shakespearean studies, and Irish theater. His extensive expertise in these areas has enabled him to make significant contributions to the field of theater studies. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Pixley has also demonstrated his passion for the performing arts through his work as a singer and occasional actor.
Notably, Dr. Pixley was a member of the original board of directors of Glimmerglass Opera, where he had the distinction of performing the role of Parpignol in La Boheme, the company's inaugural production in 1976.
