Biography

Eduardo Arroyuelo Woolrich, professionally known as Ed Woolrich, was born in Mexico City to a family with rich heritage from Spain and the UK. He spent most of his life in the US and Mexico, and his early years were marked by frequent moves, with his family residing in over 23 different houses, including one in Monterey, California.

At the tender age of 7, Ed started his acting career with a "Levi's" campaign, and soon after, he began working on various advertising projects for major brands in Mexico City. As he grew older, he continued to hone his craft, taking on more serious acting roles and pursuing formal training in film and acting at institutions in New York, London, and Los Angeles.

In addition to his acting work, Ed has also ventured into producing and directing, collaborating with renowned artists and museums, including Stephan Bruggemmann, Iñaki Bonillas, and the Museum of Installation in London. He was an active member of the Mexican Colonia Condesa art movement, which flourished at the turn of the millennium.

Ed's theatrical career has been marked by critically acclaimed performances, including a Best Actor award for his portrayal of Picasso in Steve Martin's "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" and his work in Mark Ravenhill's "Some Explicit Polaroids". He has also produced and directed several plays, including "Love and Human Remains and The True Nature of Love", "Pizza Man", and "Beyond Therapy".

In film, Ed has made a name for himself with roles in Mexican cinema, including Julian Schnabel's "Before Night Falls" and the award-winning "7 Dias", for which he won the Best Upcoming Film Actor Award from Mexico's cinema journalists. He has since gone on to work with major networks, including HBO and Fox.

In 2014, Ed co-founded the production and content company Pictures of You, which is based in Mexico, Spain, and California. He has written several feature screenplays under the pseudonym Ed Woolrich, including "Back in Black", "The Last Crash of D'ego", "La Innombrable", "Pictures of You", and "Underneath the Day".

Ed's feature directorial debut, "You Can't Always Get What You Want", was released in 2021. He currently resides in California and Mexico City.
