Donald Maynard Dokken, born on June 29, 1953, is an American heavy metal vocalist, renowned for his exceptional talent as the lead singer, occasional guitarist, and founder of the iconic band Dokken.
His unique, vibrato-laden, and melodic vocal style has had a profound influence on the American hard rock and heavy metal genres, solidifying his position as a trailblazing figure in the music industry.
Following a successful stint with Dokken, Dokken parted ways with the band in 1988, opting to embark on a solo career. His 1990 solo album, Up from the Ashes, yielded two singles and achieved a modest level of success.
Interestingly, Dokken and drummer Mick Brown are the only remaining original members of Dokken, a testament to their enduring legacy and commitment to the band.
Dokken subsequently reformed Dokken in the early 1990s, and has since continued to perform and record with the band. In 2008, he released his second solo album, titled Solitary, which marked a significant departure from his Dokken material in terms of style.
