Don DeFore embarked on a prolonged journey across the United States, performing in various stock companies for an extended period of time before finally making his Broadway debut in 1938. Subsequently, he began his film career in 1941, where he occasionally took on leading roles in B-movies, yet was more frequently cast as the affable and trustworthy sidekick of the protagonist or a likable but naive character who consistently finds himself in precarious situations, requiring the hero to intervene and rescue him from trouble. Interestingly, DeFore discovered greater success in television, where he became a regular fixture in the popular series "Hazel" (1961) and "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" (1952).
