Divya Bharti was born on February 25, 1974, to Meeta and Om Prakash Bharti.
At the tender age of 16, she chose to pursue a career in acting, leaving college behind, and landed a role in the Telugu film "Bobbili Raja" in 1990. This movie turned out to be a massive hit and was later dubbed into Hindi and released as "Raampur Ka Raja".
Divya made her Bollywood debut in 1992 with the film "Dil Hi To Hai", followed by the musical romance "Dil Ka Kya Kasoor". However, it was her role in the multi-starrer "Vishwatma" that truly catapulted her to fame.
Throughout her career, she acted in 13 more films, amidst rumors that she was the next Sridevi.
On a personal note, Divya's life was not as straightforward as her professional one. She fell in love with Sajid Nadiadwala, married him secretly as her parents strongly disapproved, converted to Islam, and changed her name to Sana.
Tragically, her life came to an abrupt end on April 5, 1993, when she fell from the balcony of her 5th-floor flat in Yari Road, Versova.
Two of her movies, "Rang" and "Shatranj", were released after her passing and were dedicated to her memory. Her filmmaker husband has also dedicated several of his films to her name.
