Diana Penty was born on November 2nd, 1985, in the vibrant city of Bombay, to a Christian mother and a Parsi father. She spent her formative years attending St. Agnes high school in Bombay, where she developed a strong foundation for her future endeavors.
Upon completing her secondary education, Penty pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from the prestigious St. Xavier's University in Bombay. This academic achievement would later serve as a springboard for her successful career in the entertainment industry.
In 2005, Penty began her modeling career, walking the ramp for renowned Italian designers Trussadi and Ferre during the India-Italy festival in 2006. Her natural elegance and fresh look on the catwalk quickly made her a sought-after model, and she was soon signed up by Maybelline to replace Deepika Padukone as the brand ambassador and face of Garnier India.
Penty's modeling success did not go unnoticed by the Bollywood fraternity, and she began receiving offers as early as 2008. However, it was not until 2012 that she made the transition to Bollywood, signing on as the lead in Homi Adajania's 2012 blockbuster, Cocktail, alongside Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.
Penty's breakthrough performance in Cocktail resulted in immediate fame, earning her several awards for her portrayal of Meera, a simple Indian girl with traditional values who finds herself in a foreign land, having to start all over again. Her success in the film solidified her position as a rising star in the Bollywood firmament.
Following the success of Cocktail, Penty continued to model, turning down several scripts as she sought to ensure her follow-up role maintained a high standard. However, rumors have surfaced that she has signed on to play the lead opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's next film, slated to go on the floors in 2015.
