Derek Zemrak, a resident of SanRamon, California, was inspired by the works of Edward D. Wood Jr. and the low-budget filmmaking buzz on the Internet to enter the world of B-Movies.
He wrote, directed, and produced his first feature film, "Ice Scream", which starred Conrad Brooks, also known as "The King of Bad Movies" and an alum of Ed Wood's films. The movie was completed in 1997 and received both national and international attention.
"Ice Scream" was reported as one of the Best of the Worst movies ever made by the LA Times on November 26, 1998, and was even nominated for Best Villain at the B Movie Awards in New York.
