Deirdre Lyons is a multifaceted artist based in Los Angeles, with a career spanning over 75 film and theatrical productions across the west coast.
She co-founded T.H. Espian Productions with her partner Stephen Butchko, producing and performing in various projects, including the critically acclaimed short film Good Behavior, which won Best Short Film at the Temecula Film Festival.
In 2016, Lyons began working with immersive theater productions, joining the original cast of JFI Productions' The Willows, which enjoyed three remounts due to its popularity. She has since participated in numerous immersive projects, including Creep LA shows, Speakeasy Societies' Kansas Collection, and Tyra Banks' immersive world Model Land.
Lyons' Virtual Reality work started with The Willows, which was released as a 180 VR film on the Amaze app. She has also appeared in Freakin' Weekend and The Under Presents, a time-bending immersive theater experience in VR that was selected as a finalist for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Innovation in Interactive Media.
In 2019, Lyons joined the ensemble cast of The Under Presents: Tempest, a Shakespearean production that combined live and virtual elements. She then started producing live VR immersive theater experiences with Ferryman Collective, including PARA, Krampusnacht, and The Severance Theory: Welcome to Respite, which premiered at Tribeca and won several awards.
As a teaching artist, speaker, and occasional lecturer at Chapman University, Lyons has also directed her fourth production, Gumball Dreams, which won the audience award at SXSW for XR Exhibition Competition and will have its international premiere at the 79th International Venice Film Festival.
Throughout her career, Lyons has demonstrated her versatility and innovative approach to storytelling, pushing the boundaries of immersive and virtual reality experiences.
