David Anselmo is a Canadian producer and former actor who has made a significant impact in the film industry. As the CEO of Hideaway Pictures and the Northern Ontario Film Studios, he has been instrumental in establishing the first and largest film production company and studio in Northern Ontario.
Anselmo's journey in the film industry began in 2001 when he started his acting career in Europe, working with small theatre groups. He then spent seven years in Seoul, South Korea, where he worked as an actor and producer, gaining valuable experience in the industry. During his time in Korea, he was involved in several successful films, including "Rpoint", "Welcome to Dongmakgol", and "The Host", which became the highest-grossing South Korean film of all time.
After a successful film career overseas, Anselmo returned to Canada in 2019 and founded Hideaway Pictures in 2010 and the Northern Ontario Film Studios in 2012. As President of Production of Hideaway Pictures, he has been responsible for producing over 60 feature films and television series in Canada, generating over $150 million in production dollars spent in the region.
As CEO of the Northern Ontario Film Studios (NOFS),Anselmo has been instrumental in attracting over 125 feature film and television projects to the region, generating over $300 million in economic development to Canada. He has also been responsible for the strategic business development of the NOFS, which has enabled the studio to meet the industry's needs and provide a wide range of equipment and services to film producers.
In 2015, the NOFS opened its second stage, and in 2019, a permanent turn-of-the-century town was built on the studio's 60-acre back lot, which has garnered attention from the industry abroad and is sought after as a future filming location.
