Damon Russell is a renowned director and producer, renowned for his exceptional work in the film industry. His most recent short film, CUL-DE-SAC, premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, where it garnered immense acclaim and earned him the prestigious award for Outstanding Director at the NBCUniversal Short Film Festival.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Damon began his career as a field producer and cameraman for the hit A&E series THE FIRST 48. This experience laid the foundation for his subsequent success as a feature director, which came in 2012 with the critically-acclaimed film SNOW ON THA BLUFF. This groundbreaking film, which skillfully blended narrative and found-footage techniques, premiered at the 2012 Slamdance Film Festival and was subsequently acquired by Netflix.
Following the success of SNOW ON THA BLUFF, Damon went on to produce CURFEW, a short film that would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. He further solidified his reputation as a talented producer with BEFORE I DISAPPEAR, the adaptation of CURFEW, which won the 2014 Audience Award at SXSW and was acquired by IFC.
