Craig Douglas, a renowned screenwriter and film director, was born on February 7, 1986, in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom. Despite being refused entry to a TV and Film Production course at Teesside University due to his earlier school grades, Douglas persevered and studied the works of acclaimed filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and Martin Scorsese, which proved to be instrumental in his eventual success.
As a child, Douglas began writing short stories with his younger brother Callum, and they would later create short videos and clips for their friends and family. This early creative endeavour laid the foundation for their future collaborations.
Douglas and his brother went on to establish their own production company, CCD Productions, using this label for videos and clips produced for local companies. In 2019, Douglas founded Pine Barrens Pictures, a production company named after his favourite episode of the hit HBO show The Sopranos. The following year, he formed Douglasfilm Ltd., a distribution and production company.
Douglas has made significant contributions to various projects, including the documentary Cleanin' Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters, in which he was a Kickstarter contributor. He has also had a brief cameo in the highly acclaimed BBC show Peaky Blinders and has worked on several films featuring notable actors such as Sylvester McCoy and Doug Jones. In 2020, he appeared in the true crime documentary Lee Duffy: Too Far, Too Soon.
Notably, Douglas signed on to the Dollar Baby Project in September 2019, writing the short film The Woman In The Room, which is based on a short story by best-selling horror writer Stephen King.
