Craig Behenna is a multi-talented individual, boasting a plethora of accomplishments as a writer, producer, and director. His impressive resume includes winning the Dark Matters Jury Prize at the Austin Film Festival for his coproduction and writing of the film One Eyed Girl, alongside director Nick Matthews.
As a writer, director, and producer/coproducer, Craig's work has been showcased at numerous prestigious film festivals, including the St. Kilda Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, Flickerfest, Tropfest Tokyo, Oberhausen, Adelaide Film Festival, and Melbourne International Film Festival, to name a few.
Beyond his work in film, Craig has also ventured into the world of animation, penning scripts and developing projects for companies such as OH YUCK! for Flying Bark in Sydney, and The New Adventures of Figaro Pho series for Chocolate Liberation Front. His efforts were recognized with nominations for Best Children's Entertainment at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television (AACTA) Awards, Kidscreen New York, and the Asian Television Awards.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Craig has also worked as a script developer, collaborating with creatives and producers who boast Oscar-nominated project lists, as well as animation companies developing feature and TV projects in the USA, Australia, and Europe.
As a teacher and facilitator, Craig has shared his expertise with students through education programs in filmmaking, screenwriting, and acting, having taught courses at institutions such as Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA),Flinders University Drama Centre, and many others.
On the screen, Craig has showcased his acting talents in a range of productions, including Pine Gap (Netflix),The Babadook (Causeway Films),Deadline: Gallipoli (Matchbox/NBC),Danger 5 (Dinosaur/SBS),and many more.
Craig's extensive training has equipped him with a solid foundation in acting and direction. He graduated from Flinders Drama Centre, and also honed his skills at Guildford School of Acting (UK) and privately with Stephen Buckwald, former head of acting at Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts. Additionally, Craig has trained at Improv Olympic in Chicago and other esteemed institutions.
