Raven-haired Clair Dia, a native Angeleno, defied convention by being born a redhead despite her natural affinity for dark locks. Her early life was marked by a relocation to the San Fernando Valley, where she spent her formative years. Subsequently, Clair pursued higher education at City College in San Francisco, where she majored in occupational therapy, cultivating a strong foundation for a career that would veer in a drastically different direction. Following her academic endeavors, Clair entered the workforce as a secretary, a humble profession that belied her future foray into the spotlight. Her acting debut arrived in the form of What About Jane: An Erotic Soap Opera (1972),a pivotal moment that would set the stage for a prolific career in the adult film industry. However, Clair's inaugural foray into the world of adult entertainment was marred by a tumultuous incident, as she was arrested and subsequently jailed on obscenity charges. Despite the brief, four-hour stint behind bars, Clair's trajectory remained unimpeded, as she went on to star in over 20 adult films, in addition to directing two more. Her formal training in filmmaking, courtesy of the esteemed Berkeley Film Institute, enabled her to transition seamlessly into the director's chair, where she continued to make appearances in brief walk-on roles, a testament to her multifaceted talents.
