Chuck Johnson is a multifaceted individual, with a background in martial arts and a successful career as an actor, stuntman, and motion-capture artist, currently based in Tokyo, Japan.
Born in Michigan, Johnson's journey in martial arts began at the tender age of 15 when he started training in Olympic Taekwondo. With an intense training schedule, he achieved his black belt in an impressive 2 1/2 years, and just six days later, he won the Michigan State Junior Olympic Taekwondo championship for both sparring and forms.
He continued to excel in Taekwondo, becoming a US non-Olympic national champion and competing in prestigious tournaments in Tokyo, Japan, and Hong Kong, where he emerged as the 2001 Inter-collegiate champion.
After relocating to Tokyo, Johnson started his career as a bodyguard for international celebrities, working alongside notable stars such as Sylvester Stallone, Orlando Bloom, Jackie Chan, and Kim Hee Sun.
Johnson's action career took off in 2004 when he was scouted by a talent agency for his impressive martial arts skills and was cast in Godzilla: Final Wars. During his time on set, he met renowned Japanese action director Yuji Shimomura and began studying East Asian-style fight choreography under his guidance.
In addition to his martial arts expertise, Johnson also pursued acting training, studying Method Acting under coach Shelley Mitchell and the Meisner method.
With a master's rank in Olympic Taekwondo and Seishindo Karate, Johnson is also proficient in various other martial arts disciplines, including Capoeira, Karate, Kobudo, and Judo. He has also studied Wing Chun Kung Fu, Hapkido, Hanmudo, Krav Maga, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Tai Chi.
Throughout his career, Johnson has appeared in over 100 dramas, films, commercials, and video games in Asia and the United States, and is fluent in both Korean and Japanese.
