Charles R. Bush III, affectionately known as Chuck, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and spent his childhood in the charming hamlet of Houma, Louisiana. In 1982, Bush made the bold decision to relocate to Austin, Texas, where he was about to embark on a life-changing experience that would alter the course of his life forever. On April 3, 1983, Chuck Bush entered a 7-11 store in Austin, unaware that his life was about to intersect with the renowned director Kevin Reynolds, who was coincidentally exiting the same store. Reynolds was in Austin to begin principal photography of his 1985 film, Fandango, and Bush's striking resemblance to a character Reynolds had been struggling to cast caught his attention.
The two men briefly spoke, and Bush was asked to audition the very next morning. This chance encounter would prove to be a pivotal moment in Bush's life, as he was subsequently cast as the boorish "Dorman" in Reynolds' film, alongside notable actors Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson. Since then, Bush has made a successful career for himself behind the camera, working as a producer, writer, and director on various family films and television projects.
In 1990, Bush returned to his native Louisiana, where he worked tirelessly to develop the state's entertainment industry. In 2001, he collaborated with the Louisiana Legislature to create some of the most aggressive tax incentives for film and television production in the United States. Since then, Bush has dedicated himself to building a workforce and developing family-friendly films and television programs, sharing his expertise as a professor at the college level.
