Biography

Chinedu Unaka is a multifaceted Nigerian American individual who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as a comedian, actor, and writer.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chinedu is the son of two Nigerian immigrants, Christian and Nneka Unaka, who worked as educators and social workers in the Los Angeles area. His parents' influence on his life was immense, shaping his values and worldview.

Chinedu's passion for stand-up comedy began while attending the University of California Santa Barbara. He honed his skills and developed a unique voice that resonated with audiences. After graduating, he joined Teach For America and became a mild to moderate Special Education Teacher for multiple years in the inner city of Los Angeles, simultaneously pursuing a Master's degree in Education at Loyola Marymount University.

Despite his demanding schedule, Chinedu continued to nurture his creative side by performing stand-up comedy at night and studying to become an actor and writer. His hard work paid off, and he started touring clubs and colleges nationwide. He was a finalist in NBC's Stand up for Diversity competition, listed as a top comedian to watch by Timeout LA, and released an hour-long comedy album titled Mostly Kidding, which debuted at #2 on iTunes.

As an actor, Chinedu has made appearances on critically acclaimed programs such as The Mindy Project and Insecure. He has also been featured in two feature films: It's a Party, Two Minutes of Fame, and Shithouse.

When he's not performing or acting, Chinedu enjoys playing and watching basketball, traveling, documentaries, and spending time with family and friends. He is dedicated to supporting those around him and can be found sharing his thoughts and experiences on his website.
