Charlotte Roche's journey in the world of acting began during her high school days, where she discovered her passion for the craft. She appeared in numerous plays, including Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream", which she uniquely brought to life with her anti-capitalistic belly dancing skills. This experience sparked her fascination with Rock 'n' Roll, and she went on to form the garage-punk band The Dubinskis (UK) with three of her girl friends. Five years later, in the spring of 1998, Charlotte decided to take a chance and apply to the relatively unknown music channel VIVA II in Germany.
Thousands of young people vied for a spot at the channel, but Charlotte's bold personality and cheeky smile ultimately won her the job. She quickly became synonymous with VIVA II, and feuilletons hailed her as a pop icon due to her unconventional interview style, which exceeded the norm. Even renowned TV personality Harald Schmidt celebrated her as the "Queen of German Pop Television", and she was nominated for the prestigious Adolf Grimme Preis in May 2001.
In August 2001, Charlotte took a temporary break from her duties at VIVA II and later returned to the channel in December of the same year. Towards the end of the year, she received the Bayrischen Fernsehpreis in May 2002. Currently, Charlotte is hosting the cult music program "Fast Forward" on VIVA and "Charlotte Meets..." on Pro7, cementing her status as a beloved figure in German television.
