Charles Peckham Day, also known as Charlie Day, was born in the vibrant city of New York, with his early years spent in the picturesque town of Middletown, Rhode Island. His parents, Mary Peckham and Dr. Thomas Charles Day, both being music teachers, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the arts from a young age. His mother, Mary, is a skilled piano teacher, while his father, Dr. Thomas, is a professor of music at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. This musical heritage is reflected in Charlie's own talents, as he is a skilled pianist and guitarist.
As he grew older, Charlie's diverse ancestry, which includes Italian, Irish, and English roots, played a significant role in shaping his unique perspective and creative endeavors. He attended Merrimack College in Massachusetts, where he majored in art history, before pursuing his passion for acting at the renowned Williamstown Theatre Festival and in small television roles. To supplement his income, Charlie worked as a waiter and phone operator for a telethon selling a Motown anthology.
Charlie's big break came in 2005 when he pitched a home video he created with his friends Rob Mac and Glenn Howerton. This project eventually evolved into the hit television series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (2005),in which Charlie not only stars but also serves as an Executive Producer and one of the writers. His breakthrough film role was in "Horrible Bosses" (2011). Today, Charlie resides in Los Angeles with his wife, enjoying the fruits of his labor and continued success in the entertainment industry.
