David Whitfield, a talented individual with a remarkable career, has had the privilege of starring in numerous prime-time shows and feature films. Among his most notable achievements is his leading role in the Emmy-winning mini-series "The Temptations", where he portrayed Otis Williams and received a nomination for an NAACP Image Award. Even years after the show's release, audiences still enthusiastically applaud his performance.
However, Whitfield's life could have taken a drastically different turn if it weren't for the pivotal decisions he made during his teenage years. Born in the Bronx, New York, Whitfield admits that he "came up through the journey of selling drugs" and made his first million dollars at the young age of 14. Though he is not proud of this part of his past, it is an unfortunate reality he faced.
A high school teacher introduced Whitfield to acting, which became an outlet for him to channel his energy and passion. He discovered his true calling as an actor after performing a monologue about losing his best friend to the drug wars at a group home for boys.
Apart from his professional pursuits, Whitfield also dedicates time to raising his children. Furthermore, he teaches an acting class to help aspiring thespians develop their craft. He is currently in pre-production on an autobiography about his professional and personal journey, which he intends to direct.
