Biography

Charles is a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of skills and experiences. Born into a Pan American Airways family, he has had the opportunity to live all over the world and has traveled to over 60 countries. He studied English at Roanoke College and Environmental Microbiology at the University of Vermont.

As a musician, Charles co-founded the band The Samples in Boulder, Colorado, and has a deep passion for music. He is also a skilled sailor, diver, and pilot, having earned certifications as a PADI Dive Master, Technical Diving Institute Nitrox Diver, IANTD Re-breather diver, Royal Yachting Association Yacht Master, and private pilot.

Charles has had a successful career as a filmmaker, producing and appearing in several documentaries, including the Academy Award-winning film "The Cove" in 2009. He has also worked on films such as "Racing Extinction" in 2015, "The Big Fix" in 2012, and "Vanishing Sail" in 2015. As a producer, Charles has been involved in several high-profile projects, including the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movie franchise.

In addition to his work in filmmaking, Charles has also been involved in several environmental initiatives. He has worked with treasure hunters Scott Mitchen and Tony Kopp to discover the French Fleet of 1678 in Islas Las Aves, Venezuela, and has used side-scan sonar to map valuable Old Growth Timber in Lake Superior.

Charles is also an artist, and has used his thermal imaging skills to create stunning works of art. He has given talks at TEDx Maui, where he has shared his experiences and insights with audiences.

In his personal life, Charles is a waterman at heart, and has lived in Antigua, West Indies, since 1991. He is known for his sense of adventure and his willingness to take risks, and has been involved in several high-stakes operations, including a covert operation to bust a restaurant in Santa Monica for serving endangered species whale meat.

Charles has also worked undercover in China, filming shark fin, manta ray gill, and whale shark oil smuggling operations. His work has been published in several scientific journals, including Biology Letters, and he continues to be a vocal advocate for environmental causes.
