Cal Barnes is a multi-talented American individual, boasting a plethora of creative accomplishments. He initially pursued his passion for writing, journalism, and drama at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, graduating with a solid foundation in the arts.
In 2009, Cal made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where he began to hone his acting and screenwriting skills. His big break came in 2011, when he secured his first agent and landed his first professional acting roles, both in theatrical and commercial productions.
As his career continued to flourish, Cal began to take on more responsibilities behind the camera, producing films and exploring his creative vision. At just 24 years old, his first stage play, "Rise," won the prestigious "Best World Premiere" award at the 2012 Hollywood Fringe Festival, and subsequently secured a six-figure option/purchase deal for screen development.
Fast-forward to 2025, Cal has amassed an impressive resume, with dozens of on-screen credits, including notable films such as "Unfriended" (Blumhouse, Universal Pictures) and "Krispr" (Orenda Entertainment). He has also penned 21 feature screenplays, with two of those being produced into films.
When not acting, directing, or writing, Cal dedicates his time to his production company, Nineteen Films, based in Los Angeles, California. His latest directorial effort, "The Astrid Experience," premiered in 2023, garnering widespread acclaim and winning the audience award for "Best Feature Film" at the Los Angeles Lift-Off Festival. FandomWire Magazine even ranked it as the 5th greatest film of all time shot on an iPhone.
Cal's current goals include directing and starring in his sophomore effort, "The Influencer House Massacre," scheduled for production in 2025. He is also working towards adapting his novel, "Son of Neverland," into a feature film, with plans to star as the lead character, Peter Pan.
