Biography

Matthew Burke Brown, born in Omaha, Nebraska, was a remarkably precocious and imaginative child who was instantly drawn to the world of theatrics. He made his stage debut at the tender age of nine, performing in an adapted version of the Christmas narrative. Throughout his middle school years, he honed his skills by participating in poetry and prose readings for speech competitions, as well as duets.

Brown attended St. Philip Neri Catholic private school until the end of his eighth grade year, before transferring to Roncalli Catholic High School in Omaha, Nebraska, where he pursued his passion for drama. He became heavily involved in school productions and speech, and his involvement in the arts continued to grow during and after high school, with appearances in dinner theatres and stage productions.

Throughout his early career, Brown took every opportunity to further his acting skills, attending acting classes and devouring books on the subject. He has since appeared in a wide range of stage productions, including Shakespeare's "Richard III" and Neil LaBute's "Dark, Dark House." In 2010, he won the prestigious "Best Actor" award for his portrayal of Peter Pahkinas in "Heels To The Pavement" at the Houston Comedy Film Festival.

Brown's impressive career has been marked by numerous stage, film, and television credits. In the spring of 2012, he filmed a television pilot alongside a number of seasoned stage and screen veterans. Most recently, he made his directorial debut with "Dirges In The Dark," which is set to tour the festival circuit this year. In the late summer of 2014, Brown participated in the 48 Hour Film Project for the first time and his film "Muddy Water" went on to win "Best Film," "Best Acting," and "Best Directing." The film will be showcased at Filmapalooza in March 2015 in Los Angeles and may also be featured at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in May.

Brown credits his parents for inspiring and nurturing his passion for the performing arts, which has driven him to achieve such impressive success in his career.
