Brian McLaughlin is a seasoned producer of narrative feature films and TV series, a member of the Producers Guild of America since 2011, sponsored by the legendary Roger Corman. He has been a mentor in various programs, including the PGA Power of Diversity Master Workshop, the One-On-One Mentoring Program, and the Plenty of Pie producer incubator.
As a freelance development consulting producer, Brian has worked with over 100 clients annually, in addition to developing and producing his own projects. His diverse background includes being a visiting film professor at the University of Notre Dame, media production advisor to General David Petraeus in Afghanistan, and teaching at various institutions, such as The Los Angeles Film School, the Art Institute of Tucson, and Cal State San Bernardino.
Brian was a quarter-finalist for the PAGE International Awards for his feature screenplay, Scylla Dilemma, which he wrote under the tutelage of the Writers Guild Foundation's Veterans Writing Project. His screenplay was also selected for the 2017 PGA Power of Diversity Master Workshop, where he received mentorship from industry professionals.
Published in The Hollywood Reporter, Brian has also been featured in the January 29, 2016 issue for his article, "Oscars' Diversity Dilemma: A Mathematical Solution to Parity in Voting." He is an active member of Veterans in Media and Entertainment, serving as the producers liaison, and has produced a PSA for a veterans charity that aired on CBS in Los Angeles.
Brian is a veteran of the Army and Army Reserve, holding the rank of Major in the Infantry, Airborne, and Special Operations. His numerous decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, German and Dutch Commando Parachutist badges, Pathfinder Torch, and Airborne Wings.
In addition to his producing and military background, Brian has also been a three-time president of the Independent Film Association of Southern Arizona, a founding member of Media and Entertainment of Notre Dame, and treasurer of the Loft Cinema in Tucson. He has received the Notre Dame Exemplary Asian Pacific Alumnus award and has acted in over 60 films, including one directed by William Shatner, and has also worked as a stand-up comic.
Brian holds an MBA from Boston University and a BBA from the University of Notre Dame, and is the proud father of one son, Collin.
