Brett Simon is a distinguished individual, holding the esteemed title of Javits Fellow, a PhD candidate in Film Studies, and an MFA graduate in Art Practice at the University of California, Berkeley. His academic journey began at Princeton University, where he earned a degree in Comparative Literature and Creative Writing in 1997.
Simon's creative endeavors have garnered significant recognition, with his films and videos screening at prominent festivals worldwide, including ResFest, Toronto, Telluride, and Sundance. His impressive achievements include winning first prize in the Black Maria Film Festival.
Since 1998, Simon has been sharing his expertise with students at UC Berkeley, teaching film history, film theory, and video production. He has since relocated to Los Angeles, where he has continued to thrive in the film industry.
Simon's notable works include the feature film "The Sailor Girl," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005. He has also directed numerous music videos, including the award-winning "Somebody Told Me" for The Killers. Furthermore, he has established himself as a successful commercial director.
