Bradley Liew is a Malaysian-born filmmaker who has made a name for himself as a director, writer, and producer. His journey in the film industry began when he was accepted into the Asian Film Academy of the Busan International Film Festival in 2012, where he won the Lumos Award for Outstanding Performance from renowned Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke.
As an alumnus of several prestigious film programs, including the NAFF Fantastic Film School, Berlinale Talents, Tokyo Talents, Locarno Filmmakers Academy, EAVE Ties That Bind, and the Sam Spiegel International Film Lab, Bradley has had the opportunity to hone his craft and learn from industry experts.
In 2016, Bradley completed his first feature film, "Singing in Graveyards", a Malaysian-Philippine coproduction that premiered at the Venice International Film Festival Critics' Week. The film went on to screen and compete in several festivals, including Thessaloniki, Mostra Sao Paulo, Busan, Hawaii, Minsk, Singapore, and won best film in both Kolkata and Malaysia.
Bradley's second feature, "Motel Acacia", was showcased at the 2018 Berlinale Co-Production Market and was part of the 2017 Sam Spiegel International Film Lab, the 2016 EAVE Ties That Bind, and the 2015 NAFF IT Project of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. The film premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2019 and was the closing film of the Jogja Netpac Film Festival. It has been sold to Japan, North America, and multiple territories in Southeast Asia, and is also available on Amazon TVOD worldwide.
In addition to his work on feature films, Bradley has also worked on multiple long-form narrative series, including HBO's "Folklore Season 2", the detective thriller "The Tapes" for iWant, the largest streaming platform in the Philippines, and "Doors: A Philippine Horror Anthology" for Astro Malaysia and "Now Streaming" Anthology Series for Cignal Philippines.
As a producer, Bradley has worked on several films, including Gerardo Calagui's "Those Long Haired Nights", which premiered at the IFF Rotterdam 2017, Lav Diaz's "Season Of The Devil", which was part of the Berlinale Main Competition 2018, and his upcoming film-noir "When The Waves Are Gone", which is a Philippines-France-Singapore-Denmark-Portugal coproduction. He is also co-producing debut Vietnamese filmmaker Pham Ngoc Lan's "Cu Li Never Cries", a Vietnam-Philippines-France-Norway coproduction, and Lorcan Finnegan's "Nocebo", an Ireland-UK-Philippines coproduction starring Eva Green and Mark Strong.
