Biography

Avery Oswald Glymph was born in Washington, D.C. on June 20th, 20** at the Columbia Hospital for Women. He spent his early years attending St. Luke's Episcopal preschool and Ss. Paul and Augustine Catholic elementary school, both located in NW D.C. These formative years sparked his interest in the performing arts, as he participated in assemblies and school plays.

The family's subsequent move to Fayetteville, North Carolina had a profound impact on Avery, leading him to pursue a wide range of extracurricular activities at Pine Forest Senior High School. He became an active member of Key Club, SADD, The Drama Club, and Speech and Debate Forensics, ultimately rising to the position of President of the Drama Club and captain of the Forensics team in his senior year.

During his time at Pine Forest Senior High School, Avery won the State Forensics Championship for Dramatic interpretation with a piece from "Master Harold and the Boys" by Athol Fugard. This achievement marked a turning point in his life, as he became increasingly focused on his passion for acting.

While competing in a Forensics tournament at Wake Forest University, Avery was introduced to the idea of studying acting in a conservatory by one of the judges who was affiliated with the North Carolina School of the Arts. This chance encounter sparked a desire to pursue his dreams, and Avery soon found himself visiting the school and setting his sights on enrollment.

Avery's first professional production was a performance in the Cape Fear Regional Theatre's production of Fences, directed by the legendary Olga "Bo" Thorpe and starring Mel Winkler as Troy Maxson. This experience further solidified his intent to study and join the acting profession.

After graduating, Avery landed a role in the New York Shakespeare Festival's Broadway production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and became a member of the press pool on the popular ABC comedy "Spin City." He continued to hone his craft, taking on roles in Shakespeare's "Coriolanus" and an original production of poet laureate Robert Pinsky's "Wallenstien" in rep at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Avery's dedication to his craft ultimately led him to return to conservatory study, attending the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Today, Avery continues to work in live theatre, as well as film and television, and maintains a base in New York City.
