Biography

Andreas Guenther was born in 1973 in Graz, Austria. He grew up in Constance and attended the Waldorf school in Ueberlingen. Following his graduation in 1995, he moved to Munich, where he worked as a bartender and a parcel service employee before transitioning to a driver and set production assistant for a film production company.

In 1996, Guenther made his acting debut in the short film "Zwischen den Wegen" by Mathias Frik. The same year, he landed his first leading role in the short film "Martin - Das erste Mal" by Markus Herling and acted in Sönke Wortmann's "Charleys Tante".

From 1997 to 2000, Guenther took private acting lessons and attended various workshops. In 1999, he made his cinema debut in Stefan Ruzowitzky's "Anatomie". He then played the lead in the made-for-TV thriller "Jenny BerlinTod am Meer" (2000),directed by Johannes Fabrick.

In 2001, Guenther relocated to Berlin. Since then, he has appeared in numerous television films and movies, including "Gott ist tot" opposite Götz George and the international co-production "Baltic Storm" directed by Reuben Leder, starring Greta Scacchi, Jürgen Prochnow, and Donald Sutherland.

One of his notable roles was in "Riding Up Front" by Markus Herling, which premiered at the Berlinale 2006. Guenther also starred as the attractive kindergarten teacher Jurij Zille in "FC Venus" by Ute Wieland, which was released in German cinemas in April 2006.

In 2008, Guenther brought a personal coach into his life, with whom he worked for over a year. In 2009, he took on the role of Detective Anton Pöschel in the successful crime series "Polizeiruf 110 - Rostock" (TV) ARD/NDR.

He has also played leading characters in various series, including "Alarm für Cobra11", "Danni Lowinski", "Club der roten Bänder", and "Der Bergdoktor". In 2014, Guenther took on one of the leading roles in the RTL Event Movie "Götz von Berlichingen" alongside Henning Baum, learning horse riding and sword fighting for his character "Lerse".

Guenther has appeared in numerous TV-movies, including "Familie", "Tod auf der Insel", "Eins ist nicht von Dir", and "Opa wird Papa", a Degeto Movie that he worked on with his mentor and friend Markus Herling.

In 2017, Guenther took on the leading role of Niko Falk in the new and successful German-Austrian coproduction ARD/Degeto/ORF Primetime series "Blind ermittelt", produced by Monafilm Production.
