Anastasia Basil is a second-generation Greek American with a rich theatrical background. Her stage career began in Chicago, where she worked at renowned theaters such as Steppenwolf and the all-female Shakespeare company. Her standout performance as Hamlet earned her widespread critical acclaim.
As she transitioned to Los Angeles, Anastasia continued to hone her craft on stage, eventually catching the attention of Playtone's Director of Development. This led to her being recruited to play five diverse characters in the inaugural table read of Nia Vardalos's My Big Fat Greek Wedding, alongside notable talents like Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Andrea Martin, and Michael Constantine.
Anastasia's impressive comedic skills were further showcased in Jillian Armenante's critically acclaimed play In Flagrante Gothic, earning her multiple nominations, including an Ovation Award nomination for featured actress, an LA Weekly Award, Drama Critics Circle, and Garland nominations.
Her extensive theatrical experience has naturally led to a range of guest star and film roles. One notable highlight was her three-week collaboration with Steven Spielberg on The Terminal, where she improvised alongside Tom Hanks.
