Biography

Alice began her film career at the tender age of 15, starting as an extra in various productions, including the early film "Inceville". Her early work would include appearances as multiple characters in the 1916 film "Civilization". The following year, 1917, would mark the beginning of a significant partnership, as she would meet director Rex Ingram, whom she would eventually marry in 1921.

It was also in 1921 that Alice would receive widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Marguerite in the iconic film "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse". Her subsequent roles as the heroine in films such as "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1922) and "Scaramouche" (1923) further solidified her status as a leading lady.

In 1924, Metro would merge with the newly formed MGM, and both Ingram and Terry would become part of the studio's roster. Alice would go on to star in the western melodrama "The Great Divide" (1924),opposite Wallace Beery, and would be directed by Ingram in the epic "The Arab" (1924),which was filmed on location in North Africa and heavily influenced by the screen idol Valentino.

Alice would later get the opportunity to play the role of the wicked woman in "Mare Nostrum" (1926),a critical and financial success directed by Ingram. The film was shot on location in Italy and Spain, and marked a new level of sophistication in Alice's acting career.

In 1927, Ingram would direct Alice in his third independent film, "The Garden of Allah", which was also shot in Italy. Later that year, Alice would reunite with Ramon Navarro in "Lovers?" (1927),although the film would not receive the same level of acclaim as their earlier collaborations.

When sound technology became a reality in the film industry, Alice would retire from acting, as her favorite director, Rex Ingram, also decided to step away from the profession.
