Biography

Alfonso Rodriguez, a visionary filmmaker, was born on January 5th, 1957, in the vibrant city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He began his academic journey at the Universidad Autonoma of Santo Domingo (UASD),where he laid the foundation for his future success.

In 1979, Rodriguez pursued his passion for the entertainment industry by enrolling in the University of California, Irvine's esteemed TV and Films Production program. This marked the beginning of his illustrious career in the film and television industry.

Rodriguez's early professional endeavors saw him working as a Head Colorist at Color System Tech, where he had the privilege of coloring classic black-and-white movies, such as "Miracle on 34th Street" starring Natalie Wood and "The Maltese Falcon" featuring Humphrey Bogart. He also worked on the iconic TV series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents".

After returning to his native Dominican Republic, Rodriguez took on the role of Director of Production at several prominent TV stations, where he began to create innovative and engaging content, including TV movies, sitcoms, and soap operas. His work in this capacity helped pave the way for the development of local television programming in the country.

In 1989, Rodriguez made his feature film debut with "Trafico de Niños", followed by the highly successful soap opera "Cadena Braga". He went on to create popular sitcoms such as "Ciudad Nueva", "Electrolocos", and "Pobre Presidente", as well as the acclaimed "Grandes Series Dominicanas", a collection of 10 mini-series, each consisting of five one-hour episodes.

In the early 2000s, Rodriguez directed the TV movies "Jarabe de Mar" I, II, and III, and in 2006, he created the hit romantic comedy "Un Macho de Mujer". His most recent work, "Yuniol", received widespread critical acclaim from both national and international critics, solidifying his reputation as a masterful storyteller.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rodriguez has consistently pushed the boundaries of his craft, leaving an indelible mark on the world of film and television.
