Alexander Gorchilin's journey in the world of acting began when he was just a child, landing his first role in the "Nord-Ost" musical. He then went on to hone his craft on the stage of the Young Actors Musical Theatre and in commercials, TV-series and feature films.
As he grew older, Alexander pursued his passion for acting by enrolling in the Moscow Art Theatre School in 2008. He was part of Kirill Serebrennikov's class, which later transformed into the Studio Seven theatre company. After graduating in 2012, Alexander joined Moscow's Gogol Center Theatre along with the Studio Seven.
Alexander's success in films is undeniable, with standout roles such as Antonin in "Yes&Yes" by Valeriya Gay Germanika, Grigoriy Zaytsev in "The Student" by Kirill Serebrennikov, and Punk in "Leto" by Serebrennikov. These films have received numerous accolades, including the FIPRESCI Prize at the 36th Moscow International Film Festival, the François Chalais Prize at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and a nomination for the Palme d'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
In addition to his work as an actor, Alexander has also ventured into film direction. He made his debut with a documentary "#WHOISHAPPYINRUSSIA" and a short film "Russian fairy tales" in 2015. His first feature film "Acid" received the "Kinotavr. Debut" prize at the 29th Kinotavr, the main Russian national film festival, and was screened at the Panorama section at the 69th Berlinale.
