Alex has been a lifelong aficionado of cinema, with a passion that dates back to their childhood, when they first saw Charles Chaplin's City Lights in 1931 at the tender age of five. Following their graduation from the prestigious University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television, Alex went on to have an impressive six screenplays produced as major motion pictures, with the last one, My Brother's War, winning the Best Feature prize at the inaugural Hollywood Film Festival in 1998.
In addition to their work as a screenwriter, Alex has also served as Editor-In-Chief of "Venice Magazine", Los Angeles' premier arts and entertainment publication, from 2000 to 2007. Since joining the publication in 1996, Alex has had the privilege of interviewing and writing profiles of over 300 renowned filmmakers, actors, musicians, and artists. Their work has also been featured in a variety of other notable publications, including "Esquire", "Academy Magazine", "DGA Magazine", "Art & Living", "P3 Production Update", and "LatinStyle" magazines.
Alex's academic credentials are equally impressive, having earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Producing from the American Film Institute. Their thesis film, Auteur, which they wrote and produced, won three awards and was screened at over 20 international film festivals.
In 2010, Alex was awarded the 1st Place Maverick Award at the 20th annual Cinequest Film Festival for their screenplay Baron of Havana, which was chosen from over 900 entries and ten finalists.
Since 2007, Alex has served as Co-Editor of "The Hollywood Interview.com" with Terry Keefe, and has several film projects in pre-production under their "Wanderer Productions" banner. They have also launched a podcast, "The Hollywood Interview Podcast", which is available on all major platforms.
