Abdel Qissi, a towering figure standing at an impressive 6 feet 2 inches, was born on January 20, 1960, in Morocco. He is widely recognized for his portrayal of formidable antagonists, often alongside the renowned martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Qissi's journey began in Brussels, where he honed his boxing skills at the sports center in Ixelles. It was there that he crossed paths with Van Damme, as well as his younger brother Michel Qissi, who would later gain fame as Tong Po in "Kickboxer." The trio traveled to Los Angeles, embarking on a cinematic career.
Abdel Qissi made his debut as the monstrous fighter Attila in the 1990 film "Lionheart." He went on to appear alongside Van Damme in two more films, "The Quest" (1996) and "The Order" (2001). In "The Quest," Qissi played the role of a Mongolian fighter, sharing the screen with esteemed actors Roger Moore, James Remar, and Janet Gunn. In "The Order," he portrayed a big Arab on a market place, acting alongside Charlton Heston and Brian Thompson.
In addition to his work with Van Damme, Qissi has appeared in other films, including "Shadow Boxing" (1993) and "Silver Tears" (2007).
