A charismatic yet troubled Southern senator, rumored to have presidential ambitions, is rocked by a crisis when his private diary is stolen, threatening to expose his questionable political activities and tarnish his reputation.

Melvin G. Ashton, a US Senator with presidential ambitions, hires a PR expert to boost his public image. Unbeknownst to the expert, Ashton's secret to success lies in a diary containing 35 years of shady deals made by his party's leaders. He uses this leverage to blackmail them into supporting his candidacy, propelling him towards the nomination. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure is determined to obtain the diary, using a young and attractive woman to infiltrate Ashton's life. Additionally, the PR expert's fiancée, a reporter, is also after the diary, intending to expose Ashton's corruption and prevent him from becoming President.
