Captain Picard and his crew are sent to Romulus to facilitate a peace treaty, but their mission is derailed by a sinister plan to devastate Earth.

Captain Picard and the Enterprise crew attend the wedding of William Riker and Deanna Troi, but their celebration is disrupted by the discovery of a positronic signature, leading to a prototype android similar to Data. They are then invited to Romulus to negotiate a peace treaty with the Romulans, led by Praetor Shinzon, who is revealed to be a clone of Picard raised on a slave planet.
