Marina Sirtis, a talented actress, was born in the vibrant city of London, England, to Greek parents, Despina (Yianniri),a skilled tailor's assistant, and John Sirtis. Despite her parents' initial disapproval, Marina's passion for acting only grew stronger with time. She cleverly applied to the esteemed Guildhall School of Music and Drama as soon as she completed high school, while keeping her aspirations a secret from her parents. After graduating, Marina pursued a career in musical theater, repertory, and television, working tirelessly to hone her craft.
In 1986, Marina made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, California, in a bid to boost her career. For six grueling months, she auditioned for roles, facing rejection after rejection. Just as she was about to concede defeat and return home, Marina landed the coveted role of Counselor Deanna Troi on the iconic science fiction television series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, in 1987. This breakthrough role catapulted Marina to international fame, and she went on to reprise her character in a string of successful Star Trek films, including Star Trek: Generations (1994),Star Trek: First Contact (1996),Star Trek: Insurrection (1998),and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).
