Pete and Ellie Wanger visit a foster-care center to adopt, guided by social workers Karen and Sharon. They meet Lizzy, a teenager whose mother is a drug addict in jail, and learn she has two younger siblings. Despite the challenges, they agree to meet the siblings and eventually decide to become foster parents to prove they can be good parents.
