Gary's early life was marked by a strong passion for movies and basketball, which he pursued with dedication, even winning two state championships in high school. His interest in filmmaking began at a young age, and he started writing and directing short films. However, it wasn't until later in his college tour that he discovered his true calling in acting.
Gary's academic pursuits took him to several colleges, including the University of Georgia, Brevard College, Georgia Southwestern, and Georgia State. Eventually, he decided to follow his heart and relocate to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry.
In Los Angeles, Gary studied acting, but it was his on-set experiences that truly honed his craft. He found that observing the filmmaking process, writing, and producing films not only improved his acting skills but also led to the creation of his own award-winning films.
Gary's passion for film festivals eventually led him to co-found the Hill Country Film Festival in Fredericksburg, Texas, along with Chad Mathews and Amie Miskovsky, in 2010.
