In the film, Roddy, a refined mouse, lives a luxurious life in a Kensington flat until a sewer rat named Sid invades his home. Roddy tries to get rid of Sid, but ends up being flushed away into the sewer world of Ratropolis. There, he meets Rita, a resourceful scavenger who helps him escape, but only if he pays her. Meanwhile, the villainous Toad, who hates all rodents, sends his hench-rats to capture them, but they fail. Toad then calls upon his cousin, the notorious mercenary Le Frog, from France to take care of the problem.
