A young boy must say goodbye to his loyal donkey, Small One, and take him to town to sell him. Despite the tanner being the only one interested in buying him, Small One's master loses hope of finding a kind owner. However, Small One's selfless act leads his master back to the tanner's shop, where he sacrifices his own life. Miraculously, he is bought by Joseph to carry Mary to Bethlehem.
