The movie revolves around the unique Pokémon Celebi, a bug-like creature with vegetable features, who is the only one of its kind in the timestream. The story begins in the past as a young boy named Sam tries to rescue Celebi from a hunter. In a surprising twist, Celebi uses its powers to transport itself and Sam to the present, where they meet Ash Ketchum. As they work together to save Celebi from the Iron-Masked Marauder and his darkball, which corrupts and amplifies Pokémon, they receive assistance from the powerful Suicune, also known as the North Wind.
